The Johnson Creek fly-in is a 180/185 Club favorite. We make sure to schedule it for the same weekend as the fun and funky Yellow Pine Music Festival. Every year the event organizers offer something new, and this year is no different! First, PNW Director John & wife Robyn can't make the fly-in because they'll be in Coeur d'Alene setting up for the Aug 3-7 convention. But that is NOT an issue because Club members Jeff & Gena Nostrom and Bill Clark & Cheryl McCord have stepped up to organize an amazing gathering for the last weekend of July. Here's what's planned for the July 31-Aug 2 gathering, with Club activities conducted out of the large Group Camp south of the Pilot Shelter:
Friday evening, July 31
* Corn hole tournament at 5pm. $10/team. $10 buy back in. 50% pot payback. Bring your own chair.
* Beer tasting at 5pm. Bring a 6-pack of your favorite hometown beer to share with others. Not a fan of beer? Bring cider, bottle of wine, or nonalcoholic beverage to share. Bring your own chair.
* Yellow Pine Musical Festival. Johnson Creek caretakers will post a schedule for van shuttles to and from Yellow Pine.
Saturday, August 1
* Fly to breakfast at Big Creek, Flying B, Root Ranch, Smiley Creek, Idaho City, Stanley, McCall or Cascade. (Pilots plan excursions on their own.)
* Dinner at 5pm. Register on the Club website to reserve BBQ tri-tip steak entree and dessert. Bring an item to share at the potluck. Last names: A - F (appetizer). G - L (Bread/rolls - please bring something unique!). M - S (Salad, once again make it fun and unique!). T - Z (Side dish hot or cold). Bring your own beverage and chair.
* Speaker at 6pm. Lee Hannibal, Skywagon owner and commercial pilot with more than 38,000 logged hours! Listen to his stories of flying adventures in foreign locales. Bring your own chair.
*Yellow Pine Musical Festival. Johnson Creek caretakers will post a schedule for van shuttles to and from Yellow Pine.
Sunday, August 2
* Convention 2026, Coeur d'Alene, ID - 8/3/2026. Depart for Coeur d'Alene for the August 3-7 convention based out of Coeur d'Alene Resort. Arrive on Sunday, a day early, to enjoy the art, food, and music festivals downtown CdA that weekend.
