What the instructors will cover: When the unexpected happens! What‘s in your bag? Survival vests. Accident review. Field testing of gear. This learning session is eligible for Wings Credits. This Zoom, online learning session will be led by Dr. Amy Hoover, 2022 National Flight Instructor of the Year and backcountry author. Dr. Hoover will offer practical tips on mountain and canyon weather phenomena and flight operations, to include: Preflight weather knowledge. Global circulation & pressure patterns. Mountain winds. Cloud types & weather systems. Fog, haze and smoke. Small scale local weather phenomena. Date for this session held in June, TBD. YOU MUST REGISTER FOR THE CONVENTION TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS ZOOM SESSION.

Spend the weekend camping, exploring backcountry airstrips, and enjoying music. Friday beer tasting and corn hole tournament. Saturday BBQ tri-tip dinner and potluck. Saturday Speaker: Lee Hannibal, Skywagon owner, commercial pilot, and world traveler with amazing stories to tell!

Learn how to perform first-aid skills on yourself and others when an unfortunate accident occurs in the backcountry. This 2-3 hour, hands-on learning session will be led by Dr. Chet Stringham, medical director of an EMS service for a mountainous county. Flight paramedic Gretchen Roth will assist. This event kicks off the Skywagon Convention in Coeur d‘Alene, Idaho. Course registration is separate from the convention. The first-aid course is Sponsored by AeroLEDS.
